THE India-Myanmar Armed Forces Friendship Golf Tournament was held on 10 March at the City Golf Course in Nay Pyi Taw, with senior officers from both militaries in attendance.
Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Zaw Hein and Nay Pyi Taw Command Commander Maj- Gen Kyi Theik, along with Tatmadaw officers and an Indian Army delegation led by Gp Capt Anish Sharma, took part in the event.
Lt-Gen Zaw Hein opened the tournament by hitting a commemorative smoke ball at Tee No 1. Matches continued on 10 and 11 March at the City Golf Course and Yaypya Golf Course.
A prize presentation and dinner ceremony was later held at Yaypya Golf Course, where winners of the senior and junior individual and team events received awards. Officials from both sides also exchanged commemorative gifts.
The tournament marked the first friendship golf event between the Myanmar and Indian armed forces, aimed at strengthening cooperation and mutual trust. — MNA/KZL
