ACCORDING to the Ministry of Health, efforts are under way to open heat relief shelters in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Yangon, Magway, Bago and Mandalay regions.
It is also reported that inspections are currently being carried out at the heat relief shelters already opened in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and the respective regions. Hospitals and clinics have prepared sufficient bed capacity to admit and treat patients, and necessary medicines and medical supplies have already been arranged.
In addition, mobile healthcare teams have been formed, and public awareness signboards on heatstroke prevention will be installed in places visible to the general public.
Furthermore, preparations are being made to widely open heat relief shelters in hospitals, including central-level hospitals, across Magway, Bago, Mandalay and Yangon regions and the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory.
As the country is currently entering the hot summer season, heat relief shelters have been opened since 16 March in Magway Region, specifically in Magway, Yenangyoung, Chauk, and Natmauk townships, for those who find it difficult to stay in their homes and need to escape the extreme heat. — ASH/KZL
