THE ceremony to announce the use of the MACCS online payment system with six pri­vate banks was held yesterday morning at the Zeyathiri Meet­ing Hall in the head office of the Customs Department, Yangon Region.

 

The event was attended by the director-general and officials of the Customs De­partment under the Ministry of Planning and Finance, rep­resentatives from the Central Bank of Myanmar and Myan­ma Economic Bank, as well as officials from Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Myanmar Inter­national Freight Forwarders Association, the Myanmar Cus­toms Brokers Association, and the Myanmar Banks Associa­tion. Responsible officials from Ayeyawady Bank Limited (AYA Bank), Kanbawza Bank Limited (KBZ Bank), Cooperative Bank Limited (CB Bank), Ayeyawady Farmers Development Bank Limited (A Bank), uab Bank Limited, and Yoma Bank Lim­ited were also present.

 

At the ceremony, the direc­tor-general of the Customs De­partment delivered the opening address. This was followed by a presentation by Ayeyawady Bank Limited on behalf of the six private banks regarding the implementation of the system. A documentary on the imple­mentation of the MACCS on­line payment system was then shown, and it was officially an­nounced that the system would be introduced in areas where the MACCS system is current­ly in use, in collaboration with the six private banks. — MNA/ MKKS
