MYANMA Railways has announced that starting 15 May, the No 11-Up and No 12-Down Express trains—which serve numerous stops along the Yangon-Mandalay-Yangon railway—will be upgraded by replacing the original AAR coaches with modern air suspension coaches.

The new train sets will feature four Upper Class carriages — two air-conditioned carriages at K45,000 per ticket and two non-air-conditioned carriages at K27,000. Ticket prices for Ordinary Class and the current list of station stops will remain unchanged.

Myanma Railways stated that this upgrade aims to ensure passengers have comfortable travel options, particularly for those unable to secure DEMU tickets. The service organization expressed its commitment to meeting travellers’ needs and extended its gratitude to passengers for their patience during the necessary maintenance and upgrade periods. — Htun Htun/ZN
