U Aung Hla Tun, Deputy Minister for Information and Chairperson of the Textbook Printing Subcommittee, held a meeting with private printing house officials yesterday concerning the progress of printing textbooks. The meeting was held at the meeting hall of the Printing and Publishing Department (PPD)on Theinbyu Road in Yangon.

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister said the meeting will coordinate the printing and publishing of school textbooks for the entire nation in time for the 2019-2020 academi Year. 

He said the work at the Mandalay printing houses was almost complete when inspected them last week. He said it is important for quality textbooks to be ready for students when schools open. He said he wanted to know the progress both state-owned and private printing houses have achieved so far.

Next, Director-General U Aung Myo Myint and Deputy Director-General U Ko Ko Naing of the PPD explained the progress made so far in printing the school textbooks for 2019-2020 academi Year. Officials from the private printing houses also explained the progress they have made so far and the other attendees then discussed other general matters.

The Deputy Minister then instructed everyone to be vigilant of the natural disaster and fire hazards concerning printing houses, ensure textbook quality improves, and to complete printing and publishing them before the designated deadline.

Afterwards, the Deputy Minister and entourage inspected Royal printing house, Hnit Thit Oo printing house, and Soe printing house in Dagon Myothit (East)’s industrial zone, 7 Day printing house in Dagon Myothit (South), MPPA Binding, Star Empire printing house, and Intelligent Print Solutions Co. Ltd, and the paper and district book logistics warehouse in Dagon Myothit (Seikkan).
