A ceremony to donate a diversion weir and canal to farmers in Hantharwady Village in Gangaw Township by San Shia Family Company in Gangaw was held at the Hall of Hantharwady Basic Education High School yesterday.

At the ceremony, Region Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Win Maw Htay delivered a message and U San Shia of San Shia Family Company clarified construction of dam and canal, the purpose of donation before handing over a document related to dam and canal to chairman of village irrigation management committee U Than Nyunt. This was followed by expression of words of thanks by U Thein Nyunt.

 “We started constructing a dam and 3-mile long canal in 2012 and finished it in 2013 at a cost of K 250.00 million. The dam supplied water to over 150 acres of farmland and it is expected to supply more than 300 acres of farmland if we modify the canal” said U San Shia.

Also present on the occasion were departmental heads of Magway Region Government, Gangaw District Administrator Department Commissioner U Kyaw Min Nyo, Township Administrator U Aun Kyaw Ko Oo, departmental heads from district and township offices and farmers in the village.

Afterwards, Region Minister and party inspected the dam and canal, and gave necessary suggestions.—District IPRD
