DR Charlie Than, Union Minister for Industry and MSME Development, met yesterday morning with Indian experts en­gaged in the No 1 Steel Mill (Myingyan) project at the office of the Direc­torate of Industrial Su­pervision and Inspection in NyaungU, Mandalay Region.

 

During the meet­ing, the Union Minister stated that Foundry No 1 of the No 1 Steel Mill (Myingyan) commenced operations on 23 March 2023 and has since pro­duced over 28,000 tonnes of steel billets. He further explained that Indian and factory experts had collaborated to inspect and repair machinery to enable the operation of Foundry No 2, which has now begun running and producing steel slabs. He expressed his desire for their continued as­sistance in ensuring the successful completion of the No 1 Steel Mill (My­ingyan) project activities.

 

Following this, the Union Minister provided necessary instructions in response to briefings by the Indian experts, the Managing Director of No 1 Heavy Industries Enterprise, and the Mill Manager regarding the inspection and repair of machinery, as well as up­coming operational plans.

 

A coordination meet­ing was subsequently held to ensure the suc­cessful completion of the project operations. — MNA/KNN
