DRUG enforcement po­lice seized stimulant tab­lets worth K140 million in Thazi Township and Taunggyi, while another K6 million worth of stim­ulant tablets were confis­cated in Tachilek Town­ship, according to the Myanmar Police Force.

 

A combined team led by the Drug Enforcement Division stopped and searched a passenger bus travelling from Taung­gyi to Yangon near Ky­wetatson Village in Thazi Township at about 9:30 pm on 4 June. Officers found 90,000 stimulant tablets in the possession of 36-year-old Thet Ko Win from Ward (L), North Okkalapa Township. The tablets were valued at K135 million based on the local market price of K1,500 per tablet. Po­lice also seized K30,000 in cash.

 

Following further investigations, officers raided a house in Area 7, Phaya Phyu Ward, Taunggyi, at about 4 am on 5 June. They arrest­ed 31-year-old Sai Nyunt (aka) Min Nyunt, who allegedly arranged the transport of the drugs, and 41-year-old Aung Ko Ko (aka) Thar Nge from Area 15, Yayayekwin Ward. During the search, police seized a further 10,000 stimulant tablets valued at K5 million, based on a local market price of K500 per tablet.

 

Authorities have tak­en legal action against Thet Ko Win, Sai Nyunt (aka) Min Nyunt, and Aung Ko Ko (aka) Thar Nge under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

 

In a separate case, a combined anti-narcotics team acting on a tip-off searched a Wave I 110 motorcycle near Par Bee (3) Village in Tachilek Township, at about 1:30 pm on 5 June. The mo­torcycle was being driv­en by 33-year-old Law Pi from Kathtike Village, Kengtung Township.

 

During the search, officers seized 10,000 stimulant tablets valued at K6 million, based on a local market price of K600 per tablet. Author­ities have taken legal ac­tion against Law Pi under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, according to the re­port. — MNA/KZL
