THE Embassy of India to Myanmar announced that it has issued Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards, which include lifelong multiple-entry visas to India, to a Buddhist monk and a civilian from Myanmar.
The Ambassador of India to Myanmar, Mr Abhay Thakur, presented an OCI card to the Venerable Dr Paññasami during a ceremony held in Mandalay on 4 June 2026.
The event was attended by representatives of the All Myanmar Hindu Central Council, the Sanatan Dharma Swayamsevak Sangh and the Arya Samaj. During a separate ceremony held in PyinOoLwin, the Ambassador presented another OCI card to U Tin Latt, Chairman of the Mandalay Region Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MRCCI).
Both events were attended by Ambassador Mr Abhay Thakur and Consul-General Sundeep Kaushal. The OCI card serves as a lifelong multiple-entry visa to India, providing recipients with special privileges to engage in business, trade, education and financial activities in India.
