THE governor of the Cen­tral Bank of the Russian Federation and the gover­nor of the Central Bank of Myanmar met at the Cen­tral Bank of the Russian Federation in Moscow, the Russian Federation, on 29 June to discuss issues re­lated to banking coopera­tion between Myanmar and Russia and improving the performance of the staff of the Central Bank of Myan­mar.

 

The Myanmar delega­tion also met officials from Sber Bank in Moscow to detail the bank’s latest ser­vices, including advanced cybersecurity, anti-fraud tech, and its card-free “Smile Pay” biometric system.

 

Additionally, the dele­gation led by the Governor of the Central Bank of My­anmar attended the Mon­etary Conference organ­ized by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in Saint Petersburg from 1 to 3 July with discussing of the development of new technologies in the inter­national financial market, the use of digital platforms based on the Russian Ruble in the financial market, the need for stricter supervi­sion by banking regula­tors with the introduction of cryptocurrencies, and macroeconomic stability policies.

 

Afterwards, the Gov­ernor of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation hosted the exchange of views with the Governors of the Central Banks attend­ing the Financial Confer­ence.

 

The Financial Con­ference was attended by almost 11,000 representa­tives from 18 countries, in­cluding the Governors, dep­uty governors and heads of financial institutions from the Central Banks of Indonesia, Belarus, India, Egypt, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Nicaragua.

 

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nicara­gua and the Governor of the Central Bank of My­anmar met separately to discuss banking coopera­tion between Myanmar and Nicaragua. The delegation led by the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar returned to Myanmar on 5 July. — MNA/MKKS
