A coordination meeting to review progress on rehabilitation and recon­struction in Chin State was held yesterday at the State Government Office in Haka. It was attend­ed by Chin State Chief Minister Dr Wong Hsun Thang, Deputy Minister for Construction U Myo Myint, state ministers, committee members and departmental officials.

 

The chief minister said rehabilitation efforts had accelerated with the deputy minister’s on-site supervision and expressed confidence that continued cooperation would ensure the successful completion of reconstruction work.

 

The deputy minister said that 110 government offices had reopened in Tiddim, Tonzang and Falam, staffed by 3,443 civ­il servants. A total of 279 basic education schools had resumed classes, while public hospitals had treated 13,098 patients with 278 medical personnel. Myanma Economic Bank branches and municipal markets had resumed normal operations, and electricity and telecom­munications services were gradually being restored. He added that reopening Surbung Airport would im­prove transport links and speed up the delivery of materials needed for reha­bilitation and reconstruc­tion. — MNA/KNN
