NINE foreign nationals involved in online gambling, telecom fraud and other crimes in the Myawady- Shwe Kokko area of Kayin State were handed over to their respective countries through Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II in line with legal procedures.
The group included three Filipinos, three Ethiopians, one Nepali, one Ugandan and one Russian national. They had illegally entered Myanmar through border routes and were involved in criminal activities.
From 30 January 2025 to 7 July 2026, a total of 14,731 illegal foreign entrants were detained in Myawady Township, with 13,572 already repatriated through Thailand. The remaining individuals are being processed for transfer or legal action. — MNA/ KZL
