THE Ministry of Labour held a workshop titled “Towards Socio-Econom­ic Development of Migrant Workers and Their Fami­lies through Dignified Mi­gration” yesterday morn­ing at the Grand Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

 

The event was attend­ed by Overseas Employ­ment Supervisory Com­mittee Chairman Union Minister for Labour U Khin Maung Soe, Vice-Chair­man Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Phone Myat, committee members, representatives from UMFCCI, private banks, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Association (MOEAA).

 

Union Minister U Khin Maung Soe delivered an address, followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation to ten li­censed foreign employ­ment agencies recognized for their contributions to family remittances that support national economic development.

 

At the workshop, ex­perts discussed safe migra­tion, measures to prevent human resource loss, strat­egies for developing skilled workers, the expansion of labour markets, and ways to promote socioeconomic progress through migrant workers’ remittances. — MNA/MKKS
