THE Ministry of Labour held a workshop titled “Towards Socio-Economic Development of Migrant Workers and Their Families through Dignified Migration” yesterday morning at the Grand Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.
The event was attended by Overseas Employment Supervisory Committee Chairman Union Minister for Labour U Khin Maung Soe, Vice-Chairman Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Phone Myat, committee members, representatives from UMFCCI, private banks, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Association (MOEAA).
Union Minister U Khin Maung Soe delivered an address, followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation to ten licensed foreign employment agencies recognized for their contributions to family remittances that support national economic development.
At the workshop, experts discussed safe migration, measures to prevent human resource loss, strategies for developing skilled workers, the expansion of labour markets, and ways to promote socioeconomic progress through migrant workers’ remittances. — MNA/MKKS
