A total of 61 participating companies in the Rice Export Zone programme have started distributing loans, reaching 313,937 acres of monsoon paddy across 55 townships, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF).
Farmers participating in the Rice Export Zone who meet the specified criteria will be provided with a loan of K750,000 per acre, comprising K300,000 from the Myanma Agricultural Development Bank, K200,000 from the participating export companies and K250,000 from the National Economic Promotion Fund.
Those interested in participating in the REZ programme must have at least 300 adjacent acres. MRF has invited interested individuals to coordinate with the MRF.
The REZ project, under the public-private partnership between the Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Myanmar Rice Federation, will be carried out in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Bago, Yangon, and Ayeyawady regions, with a view to exporting premium rice in the 2026-2027 monsoon paddy season. A total of 350,000 acres are designated in the REZ.
Rice export companies, in collaboration with regional, district, and township Rice Export Zone Supervisory Committees, are conducting field visits to provide initial cultivation loans to farmers participating in the Rice Export Zone in the respective townships.
