Thandwe District Association (Yangon) held an annual meeting in conjunction with a ceremony to pay homage to elders and to honour outstanding students of the members of the association at the Thukhitayama Monastery in Sanchaung, Yangon.
The ceremony began with an opening speech by Patron of the Thandwe District Association (Yangon) U Soe Myint (Writer Annawa Soe Moe) and greetings by chairman U Mya Maung.
Afterwards, Vice Chairman U Htin Kyaw Lin reported on the Scholarship Scrutinizing Committee’s report followed by presentation of certificates of honour to the donors. Next, the annual meeting for the association was held and working committee’s report and annual balance sheets were reported and approved by the patron of the association.
Then, awarding ceremony was held and on behalf of member of Patron of the association Daw Kyan (Thanime Daiwe), member of the patron U Hla Kyaw Aung explained about “U Tun Hla Aung Scholarship Award” and officials of the association presented awards to the 10 outstanding students who got distinctions in the matriculations examination. During the awarding ceremony, five distinction winner Maung Tun Naing Win expressed words of thanks on behalf of the outstanding students.
Next, a ceremony for paying homage to the elders was held and members of the association paid respects to 46 elders aged over 75 years. The Thandwe District Association of Yangon was founded by the people from Thandwe, Taunggup and Gwa townships in Thandwe District in 1945.
