Organized by Asho Chin National Literature and Culture Organization, “ Asho” Chin traditional cloth-weaving course was opened at the Basic Education Primary School in Pabe village of Ngaphe Township, Magway region this morning.
The course is designed to preserve traditional handicraft of Asho Chin ethnics.
On the occasion, Staff Officer Salai Aung Win, head of the Region Ethnic Literature and Cultural Affairs Department explained the purpose of the course, urging the trainees to help preserve traditional culture of Chin ethnics.
Three female instructors will teach female trainees how to weave Asho Chin ethnic shawls, women’s clothes, men’s suits and male trainees about making a big bamboo circular tray on a stand used for serving meals. A total of 70 trainees will attend the one-week course.— Ma Yu ( Ngape)
