The Chief Minister’s cup inter-township men and women’s volleyball contest was opened at Shwewal Thiri indoor stadium in Dawei, Taninthayi Region this morning.

First, Regional Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Hla Htwe took position and slated the participating teams. Next, the regional minister delivered an address. The competition aims to recruit outstanding players in order to take part in the inter-region and state volleyball championship to be held on 21 May. He called on the athletes to show sportsmanship in the event, urging them to try their best to become well-rounded contestants.

In the first match of the men’s event, Dawei team beat Launglone team. The volleyball contest lasts till 8 April.—Dawei IPRD
