Pathein, 4 April

The final matches of the inter-district U-25 men and women’s volleyball tournament took place at Koethein Indoor Stadium in Pathein, Ayeyawady Region this morning in conjunction with a prize awarding ceremony.

Pathein team emerged champion after beating Hinthada team in the final match of the women’s event while the team representing Myaungmya Dsitrict defeated the team representing Pathein District in the men’s contest. Chief Minister of Ayeyawady Region U Hla Moe Aung and Regional Minister for Social Affairs Dr. Hla Myat Thwe presented the trophies and cash to the winning teams.

The event was held from 1 to 4 April with six participating teams in the men’s contest and six participating squads in the women’s competition. The outstanding athletes were recruited to form men and women teams to represent Ayeyawady Region in the inter-region/state volleyball championship.—Min Tun Zaw
