Union Minister for Information Dr. Pe Myint accompanied by Myanmar Ambassador to China U Thit Lin Ohn met with Mr. Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC), members of the Central Committee and also Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, at the Great Hall of People in Beijing yesterday morning.

At the meeting, increasing friendship, establishing mutual trust and understanding, eradicating illiteracy and increasing reading rate as well as cooperation in education sector, weather and natural disasters, science and technology and movies were cordially discussed and views exchanged.

This was followed by a meeting with a group led by a member of CPC Central Committee and Deputy Minister of the Central Propaganda Department Mr. Wang Xiaohui in which history of movies in the two countries, arrangements made in Myanmar for movie development, establishment of movie schools and studios in Myanmar as well as movie production, investment in movie cinema, shooting of movies and joint shooting and production matters were cordially discussed.

Later in the afternoon, the Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister Dr. Pe Myint arrived at Beijing Film Academy where officials explained about the history, faculty wise subjects taught at the academy and practical works of courses, status of opening courses, producing outstanding artistes, degrees, post-graduate degrees and Ph.D courses conducted. Union Minister and delegation members raised questions of interest.

In the evening, the Union Minister and the delegation went to CITIC Group in Beijing and visited the various works conducted including book publishing and were explained about the group investing in fifty countries including Myanmar in line with the international norms. 

The Union Minister and delegation raised questions on matters of interest, discussed and invited about investing in Myanmar motion picture sector.
