Eight people were killed and several people injured after a traffic accident between two vehicles in Myaing Township, Magway Region, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported on Monday.
The tragedy accident happended between milepost 416/7 and 617 on the Pathein-Monywa Road neat Linkattaung Village, Myaing Township at about 5:50 p.m. on 7 April. A light truck carrying 28 people rear ended an oil tanker heading to Monywa while attempting to overtake another car. Eight people died on the spot and 21 people were injured in the incident.
Among the injured people, 13 people were seriously hurt. All injured people have been sent to a nearby public hospital in Myaing. Both oil tanker and light truck drivers are being questioned over reckless driving by the police.—MOHA
