The closing ceremony of a bamboo handicraft course was held at a basic education middle school in Shantaung Village, Homalin Township in Sagaing Region this morning.

First, the Upper House MP U Nyi Nyi Htwe gave a speech and a course instructor and officials from the Department of Rural Development and the Small Scale Industry Department explained the purpose of the course. Afterwards, the regional lawmaker and concerned officials presented completion certificates to the trainees and viewed various kinds of handicrafts made of bamboo. The course was jointly conducted by the Department of Rural Development and the Small Scale Industry Department with the aim of creating better job opportunities for local people and increasing their income.

The two-week course that mainly focuses on making clocks, cups, lamps, tissue boxes and photo albums with bamboo was attended by 22 trainees from the village-tract.
