Mongphyat, 9 April
A merit sharing ceremony for a religious structure built with contributions donated by local people took place at Theravada Buddhist Missionary Monastery in Mongphyat Township, Eastern Shan State this morning.
The ceremony was opened by reciting “Namo Tassa” three times. Next, the congregation received the “Five Precepts” from Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Dhaja Bhaddanta Tezaniya of Theravada Buddhist Missionary Monastery from Kengtung. After that, the congregation donated offertories to members of the Sangha who then recited the “Paritta”. Next, two senior Buddhist monks presented certificates of honour to 26 well-wishers.
The congregation then received the Dhamma preached by a Buddhist monk from Tachilek and the ceremony concluded with the three-time recitation of “Buddha Sasanan Ciran Tittahtu,” (May the Sasana endure foreover).
