The country's state-run media reported on Friday morning that the parliament reelected Kim Jong Un as the top of the State Affairs Commission.

Kim was first elected to the post in June 2016. One of Kim's closest aides, Choe Ryong Hae, was named President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly --- the new ceremonial head of state. The post was held by 91-year-old Kim Yong Nam for decades.

Kim Jae Ryong, chief secretary of the Jagang provincial committee of the North's ruling party, was chosen as premier of the cabinet, who will play a major role in rebuilding the economy.

The state-run media made no mention about whether the assembly discussed the relations with the United States or issues, including the country's denuclearization.
