North Korea's state-run media say the country's leader Kim Jong Un criticized the United States during his first summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

The Korean Central News Agency ran its first report on the discussions at the summit on Friday.

The report says Kim told Putin that the situation on the Korean Peninsula "is now at a standstill, and has reached a critical point where it may return to its original state." He claimed this was because the US took a unilateral attitude in bad faith at the US-North Korea summit in February.

Kim is also quoted as saying that the peace and security on the Korean Peninsula will entirely depend on the future US attitude, and that his country will gird itself for every possible situation.
