Under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Sports, the Myanmar Cycling Federation and the Sports and Physical Education Department jointly organized a mass cycling in Mandalay this morning.
The activity is held with the attention of drawing public attention in cycling sports and promoting physical activities among the public. More than 200 amateur cyclists including Regional Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, the lawmakers, Director of the Institute of Sports and Physical Education U Wai Zin, departmental staff and residents took part in the event that was 35th times during two years.
The bike race commenced at 5:30 am at a gathering point in front of the office of Mandalay City Development Committee with a starting pistol fired by the director of the SPED. The well-wishers donated soft drinks to the participants who participated in a physical activity after the competition.
The mass cycling event is held during the last week of every month as a community activity in Mandalay and every enthusiast regardless of race and religion can participate in the activity.—Tin Maung (Mandalay Sub-printing House)
