Hpa-an, 1 May 2019

An invitational open table tennis championship was opened at Kanthar Oo Hall in Ward-4, Hpa-an, the capital city of Kayin State this morning.

The tournament was sponsored by WOW SPORTS with the aim of promoting table tennis sport in Kayin State. Firstly, Chairman of the Kayin State Sports and Physical Education Committee Kayin State Minister for Bamar Ethnic Affairs U Teza Htut Hlaing Htwe delivered an address. Next, a representative from WOW SPORTS explained the purpose of the contest and presented sports gears provided by the Myanmar Table Tennis Federation to officials from Kayin State Table Tennis Sub-committee.

A total of 24 teams representing Hpa-an, Myawady, Mawlamyine and Thaton Townships are taking part in the event that runs from 1 to 3 May.—Nay Myo Lwin (IPRD)
