No casualties were reported after a fire broke out at a monastery in Pakkoku Township, Magway Region early this morning.

The fall of a candle in a Buddhist shrine on the carpet led to triggering the fire that consumed two wooden buildings. The blaze was completely extinguished by firefighters led by the commander of the district fire brigade U Kyaw Naing with the use of fire engines and 10 water tankers.

The estimated loss of property due to the fire is still unknown and a probe has been ordered to investigate into the case by the local police station.—Ko Zaw (Chemistry)
