Full Moon Day of Kason (the Buddha Day) is widely known as a day of religious significance for Buddhists around the world and which fell on 18th May 2019 this year. In commemoration of the holy event associated with the religion and traditions in Myanmar, the Buddhists observe the Buddha Day or the Full Moon Day of Kason every year. It is a day on which the Lord Buddha was born, attained enlightenment and passed away.
Therefore the sacred Bodhi Tree is of signified image of worship as a worthy shrine in Buddhist countries. It goes without saying that Buddhists across the world revered the sacred Bodhi Tree very much and they thronged famous pagodas and other religious places to participate in the celebration of Buddha Day or Full Moon Day of Kason on a grand scale.
A ceremony to pour sacred water on the Bo tree was held at the Bo tree in the precinct of the Maha Muni Buddha Image in Mandalay Region yesterday.
The event was attended by Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, Chief Justice of Mandalay, regional ministers, members of the Maha Muni Buddha Image’s board of trustees, religious associations and devotees.
Likewise, water pouring ceremony at the Bo Tree was also held at the Shwekyeemyin, the Payani, the Hsutaung-pyae Hsutaungya, the Warkingone, the Aungdawmu, the Maha Bawdibin, the Mandalaytaung and other pagodas in Mandalay. —Mandkopwar (Translated by Win Ko Ko Aung)
