MANDALAY  Police  received  news  that  a  man,  identified  as  U  Min  Htwe,  was  brandishing  a  knife  at  the  corner  of  streets  66th  and  14th  in  Daw  Na  Ward,  Aungmyethazan Township, at 4 am on 18 May.

When  police  arrived  at  the  scene  with  witnesses,  U  Min  Htwe became aggressive to the police and was given a warning shot.  Police  fired  another  shot  when  he  continued  his  aggres-sive actions.

He  suffered  wounds  to  his  abdomen  and  right  ankle  and  was rushed to Mandalay General Hospital  where  he  died  at  4:30  am.  His  national  identity  card  (without  a  photo)  and  a  train  ticket from Lashio to Mandalay was discovered on his body.
