Kyaikhtiyo 21 May

No casualties were reported after a tree measuring 40 ft. in length and 60 ft. in circumference fell down on a route to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda in Kyaikhto Township, Mon State on 2o May.

The incident occurred in the aftermath of heavy rains and strong winds that forced an old tree to fall down on a power line. Cable wires from four power poles were damaged, resulting in temporary suspension of electricity distribution in the area. The township Electricity Supply Enterprise repaired the damaged power line and resumed power distribution to the area this morning.

The fall of a tree on the road led to disrupt the vehicle operating from the basement to atop of the mountain where the Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda is located.—Win Maung (Kyaikhto)
