A ceremony to lay foundation for a modern cold storage and fish cracker factory in the Food Industry Complex project at Ayeyawday Region, Pantanaw Township was held in the project compound yesterday morning. The Food Industry Complex project was implemented by Global Earth Agro & Aqua Industry Public Company Limited.

 


The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Thu, Union Minister for Commerce Dr. Than Myint, officials from Ayeyawady Region government, Myanmar Investment Commission and Myanmar Fisheries Federation and invited guests.

 


First, Global Earth Agro & Aqua Industry Public Company Limited Chairman Wunna Kyaw Htin U Htay Myint explained about implementation of Food Industry Complex project.

 


Next Union Minister Dr. Aung Thu spoke of increasing consumption of fish in the world because eating fish supports the health. Global Earth Agro & Aqua Industry Public Company Limited was seen to be entrepreneur in its work with innovations that were in accord internationally. Today’s work will benefit the country and added that fishery sector exported US$ 712 billion last year.

 


Afterwards Union Minister Dr. Than Myint explained about the investment status.

 


Later the Union Ministers and officials lay foundation stones where the cold storage and fish cracker factory included in the Food Industry Complex project will be constructed.

 


The Union Ministers and officials then inspected the construction of fish ponds, fish feed factory and cold storages, fish and prawn raised, fish hatchery exhibit, fish hatchery ponds, releasing of fingerlings and raining season tree plantings conducted in the Food Industry Complex.

 


The Food Industry Complex Project was constructed on 900 acres of land in 2017 and once works start in 2020, it’ll employ about 20,000 workers it is learnt.—Min Thit, Thant Zin Win
