A karate tournament, including both senior and junior events for youths, is being held at Aung San Indoor Stadium in Yangon from 7 June, with about 400 athletes taking part in the tournament, officials stated.

Under the supervision of the Myanmar Karate Federation, a Junior class karate competition with U-14 and U-12 events was also held on 8 June.

The opening ceremony for the tourney was held on Friday at the Aung San Indoor Stadium.

During the ceremony, Dr. Win Zaw, President of the Myanmar Karate Federation, said holding such a tournament can assist in the development of future karate sports.

The senior class karate events, both Kata and Kumite Karate, were held after the opening ceremony. Also, the U-10 children’s event will be held today at the Aung San Indoor Stadium. —Ar Kar Soe (Translated by Kyaw Zin Lin)
