Wakema, 16 June

A rural bridge built under the Village Development Plan (VDP) was opened to public in Htanpinsu Village, Wakema Township in Ayeyawady Region yesterday.

At the ceremony, an official from the Department of Rural Development, Township Administrator U Zaw Maw Aung and concerned officials formally opened the bridge and sprinkled scented water on its stone inscription. Residents from not only Thayetchaung Village-tract but also nearby village-tracts can now use the new bridge in all seasons with greater ease, thereby contributing to socioeconomic development of the area.

The new bridge is 50 ft. long, 10 ft. wide and 15 ft. high. It was constructed at a cost of Ks. 15 million contributed under the VDP and donated by local people.—Hlwan Thiha (IPRD)
