A man was burnt to death in a fire that broke out at 6:30 am in ward-3 in the town of Wetlet in Shwebo district, Sagaing region, according to Assistant Director U Aye Myint of the District Fire Services Department.
Soon after receiving a report about a fire, four firefighters and ten policemen led by staff officer U Maun Nein from Wetlet township Fire Department rushed to the scene to inspect the incident. The authorities found that the fire burnt down a ramshackle hut roofed with toddy-palm leafs that belonged to U Po San, 50. U Po San himself was found dead beyond recognition in the fire, put out by three local people in 12 minutes.
The fire was said to have started from sparks from a cigar the drunken victim might have smoked.—Moe Thauk ( Shwebo)
