AA group attacked an anchored tugboat, which was struck by a rocket while anchored in a river in Sittway yesterday, killing two soldiers and injuring one, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.

The AA group launched three rockets at the tugboat of the Defence Services (Army) around 3.45 am. The attack damaged the rear of the ship.

Following the attack, members of the Tatmadaw conducted a security operation around the area where the AA group was positioned to fire the rockets, and found one Type-63 mm rocket and two batteries and wires, which were used for firing the rockets.

The tugboat was anchored while on duty to provide rescue services to ships when their engines fail, and to assist people in Rakhine State when disasters occur, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.

As AA has been carrying out destructive acts in Rakhine State, in an attempt to jeopardise the rule of law, the Tatmadaw beefed up security in the areas. — MNA
