The launching ceremony of a rural electrification facility that was built on a self-reliant basis was held in Kwanngan Village, Kyaikmaraw Township in Mon State this morning.

The electrification facility was formally inaugurated by Speaker of Mon State parliament Daw Tin Ei, Deputy Speaker of Mon State parliament Dr. Aung Naing Oo, Mon State Minister for Kayi  Ethnic Affairs U Saw Aung Myint Khaing and Pyithu Hluttaw Representative U Saw Kyaw Win Maung. In her address, the Mon State parliament speaker said that availability of electricity plays an important role in development of rural areas, saying the rural electrification facility materialized due to unity of the residents.

 


The rural electrification structure was built by the township electricity office at a cost of Ks. 200 million with Ks. 600,000 funded by each family in the village. Now residents from other side of Ahttayan River are happy with having access to electricity from the facility.—Cho Myat Myat Htwe (IPRD)
