President U Win Myint and First Lady Daw Cho Cho attended a ceremony held at Nay Pyi Taw Pobbathiri Township Aye Myitta San Taung Ni Lay Parahita Monastery yesterday morning to donate K 100 million to Eternal Peace Pagoda on the occasion of the birthday of Aye Myitta San Taung Ni Lay Parahita Monastery principal patron Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sandima.
The ceremony was graced by Sayadaws and sanghas led by Bago Region Yedashe Township Swar town Satyone Monastery Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sasana and Nay Pyi Taw Pobbathiri Township Welgyi Monastery Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Addisavumsa. The ceremony was also attended by Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr. Myo Aung and wife, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Kyi Min, Hluttaw representatives, departmental officials, donors and officials.
At the ceremony the President, First Lady and attendees first took the Five Precepts from Bago Region Yedashe Township Swar town Satyone Monastery principal patron Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sasana and listened to Metta Sutra recited by the Sanghas.
Next the President, First Lady and attendees donated offerings to the Sayadaws and Sanghas.
Afterwards, the President accepted K 100 million donated for Eternal Peace Pagoda by Aye Myitta San Taung Ni Lay Parahita Monastery Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sandima and in return presented a certificate of honor to the Sayadaw.
The President then transferred the donated K 100 million to Eternal Peace Pagoda Construction Leading Committee Vice Chairman Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Kyi Min.
Later, the President, First Lady and attendees listened to a sermon delivered by Nay Pyi Taw Pobbathiri Township Welgyi Monastery principal patron Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Addisavumsa and shared merit for the donations made.
