A CEREMONY to donate cash for the Eternal Peace Pagoda and missionary in border and hilly regions was held at the Vijaya Mingalar Dhamma Thabin Hall in Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon yesterday.
At the ceremony, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Yangon Region Hluttaw Deputy Speaker, heads of departments, officials, and donors took the Five Precepts from Shwe Parami Forest Monastery Sayadaw Sandadika, and the audience then listened to the members of Sangha reciting the parittas.
Next, Union Minister and Chief Minister presented offertories to the Members of the Sangha. At the ceremony, sayadaws, nuns and people donated K368.1 million for construction the Eternal Peace Pagoda and K197.6 million for missionary tasks for border and hilly regions.
The donations were accepted by Union Minister, Chief Minister, Yangon Region Deputy Speaker, directors-general, and deputy directors general who in return presented certificates of honours to the donors. The ceremony came to an end with sharing merits by the congregation. — MNA (Translation by TTN)
