Rescue and firefighting drills were practiced in a sports ground in ward-5 in the town of Shwebo, Shwebo district, Sagaing region yesterday morning.

 Firefighters from Shwebo Township Fire Services Department and members of social rescue teams participated in the drills under the guidance of U Min San Aye, head of Sagaing region Fire Services Department. 

Rescue and search drill focused on pulling the trapped victims out of a vehicle with the use of lifting bags, hydraulic ram, stabilizer and removing the upturned vehicles using lifting vehicles, detecting the victims in the collapsed buildings with wireless detector and camera, cutting out the broken concrete blocks with engine cutters. 

In the firefighting drill, participants practiced distinguishing oil fire with the use of dry chemical powder and wet clothes, putting out the fire in high-rise buildings with fire engines with a ladder and water trucks. The fire fighters also conducted an earthquake drill in collaboration with schoolchildren from No-15 Basic Education High School.
