Mandalay 27 June

Organized by Myanmar Music Association (Mandalay), a ceremony to mark the 7th Myanmar Music Day was held in Success hotel in Mandalay this morning, with an opening speech by Dr. Hla Khaing, chairman of the association.

Then, musician academy Thaw Zin and troupe performed a folk song named “Doe Bamar” composed by YMBA Saya Tin. Then music bands played songs. Myanmar music association designated June 27 as Myanmar Music Day in its meeting held on June 4, 2013. The 2nd assembly of Doe Bamar Association held on June 27, 1936 designated the song named ‘Doe Bamar’ composed by YMBA Saya Tin as national song.

The ceremony was attended by chairman and members of Myanmar Music Association ( Mandalay) members of the association from the towns of Mandalay, Sagaing, Kyaukse and Pyin Oo Lwin and invited guests.—Than Zaw Min (IPRD)
