Fisheries Department under Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation ministry auctioned off fishing lakes in Mabein townsip to grant fish farmers commercial fishing in 2019-2020 fiscal year in the town hall of Mabein township, Moemeik district, Shan state (North) this morning.

First, MP U Aung Myint Shein of Pyithu Hluttaw, MP U Maung Nyo of the state Hluttaw and township administrator U Zaw Moe Lwin made speeches. Then, U Saw Lin, head of Lashio district Fisheries Department dealt with matters relating to fisheries, followed by presentation about rules and regulations of the systematic lake fishing by U Thein Win, head of Mabein township Fisheries Department.

At the event, five fishing lakes and four fishing areas were auctioned off for the first time. Another two fishing lakes and five fishing areas will be put out to tender in July for the second time.

The event was attended by Director U Tin Lin Tun, head of the state fisheries department, departmental personnel and bidders.—Htein Lin Oo (IPRD)
