Certificate awarding ceremony of National Skill Standards Authority(NSSA) was held at Central Construction Training Center in Thuwunna, Yangon at 9 am.

Present at the event were Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population, U Thein Swe, Yangon Regional Ethnic Affairs, Labour and Rakhine Affair Minister U Zaw Aye Maung, members of the NSSA, representatives from Skill assessing departments and private training schools, employers, employees organizations, GIZ, Swisscontact, development organizations and certificate recipients.

At the event, the Union Minister delivered keynote speech. He said that NSSA is responsible for judging skills for supervisor-level and employees below the rank of supervisor at workplaces. There are four levels competency of skills. Level 1 and 2 were able to be assessed this time and they are working on to assess level 3 and 4. The employees have been assessed their skills with a set of norms 2014 to in 2019, there were 13445 candidates and 11900 passed on National skill standard 1 and 2 and subsequently were awarded certificates.

NSSA is working towards producing disciplined and competent workers to provide basic need, which is quality human resource, to built developed the nation. Policies of the future of work and technology, vocational training and assessing skills should be made. NSSA has ISO 9001:2015 certificate and with the help of ISO they are trying to achieve Mutual Recognition of Skill within ASEAN countries. They are also preparing for Industrial 4.0 in the world’s market.

The Union Minister called for adapting along with technology change.

From 2018 August to December there were 737 male and 435 female successful workers from 17 different fields. A total of 1172 were awarded level 1 certificates.

NSSA awarded certificates to 38 examiners from 11 Skill assessment departments. Now NSSA has awarded certificate to 8631 male and 3269 female workers, 11900 in total for 23 work field around Myanmar.
