No casualties were reported after a big rain tree fell down on a power transmission line due to gusty winds in front of a prominent pagoda in Zinkyaik Town.

The incident occurred in Pankon Village, Zinkyaik Town in Mon State at about 11 p.m. on Sunday. The tree-fall has led to temporary closure of traffic, damaging six nearby houses.

Policemen, local authorities, rescuers, firefighters, local militiamen and residents cleared off the debris and collapsed power poles. The close road was reopened to traffic at 3:30 a.m. today.—Nay Chi (Zinkyaik)
