Kyaikmaraw, 9 July

With the aim of increasing awareness among the schoolchildren of preventing under-age rape crime and sharing knowledge about dos’ and don’ts, an informative talk was held in Basic Education Middle School of Thingan Chaung village, Kyaikmaraw township, Mon state yesterday afternoon.

In the event, Cho Myat Myat Htwe, head of the Township Information and Public Relations Department, gave a talk under the title “ :Let’s all work together towards free of under-age rape cases”. She said that under-age rape cases are common in young girls in the 5-16 age groups. Teachers and parents should have keen awareness about under-age rape crime, because this kind of crime is committed at any time, any place, and any situation. Parents and teachers should especially take care of the schoolchildren on their way to school and home. The schoolchildren themselves should not go anywhere without a companion, she said.

Then, Daw Myint Myint Swe, headmistress of the school gave a talk to parents of the schoolchildren.—Township IPRD
