A collective tree planting event was organized by local people and the township Forest Department in Ywathar Gone village in Pwintphyu Township, Magway region yesterday afternoon.

 

The aim of the event is to prevent local people from hot weather. At the event, U Aung Maw, head of the Township Forest Department said that the village is annually facing climate changes and natural disasters caused by chopping trees down recklessly. He also urged the villagers to take care of the trees planted to grow well in order to keep the village green and to prevent the village from severe heat.

 

Then, the participants planted 200 saplings in the school compound and the precinct of a monastery along each side of the roads in the village.—Ye Win Naing( Nyaung-U)
