Kawthoung, 2 August

Strong winds with heavy rains hit some villages and wards in Myanmar’s southernmost city of Kawthoung in Taninthayi region, damaging some houses, causing some trees and some lamp posts to fall onto the ground.

Due to unceasing rains and strong winds, a tree fell onto a residential barrack in Shwepyisoe village and badly damaged its roof. Three houses near a coastline in Palontonetone village collapsed in the gusty winds. Similarly, some trees and lamp posts fell down, damaging houses, blocking roads in Shwe Pyi Thar ward in the town of Kawthoung. No casualty was reported in the incidents.

Rescue team and locals were clearing away the debris blocking the roads, it is learnt.—kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
