A ceremony to provide financial aid and relief items to people whose homes were damaged by strong winds was held at the hall of the Township General Administration Department in the Sub-Township of Ahmar, Pyapon District, Ayeyawady Region this morning.

Powerful winds hit Gawdu Village on 5 August and damaged three houses and flipped over the roofs of 34 houses.

Officials from the district Department of Disaster Management under Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement handed over a total of K 1.6 million including K 1300000 each for building materials, rice and 17 relief items to 173 victims of powerful winds from 37 household in three Villages.

Also present on the occasion were Administrator of Ahmar Sub-Township, Bawathit Village Administrator and victims of strong winds.—Win Myint Aung, IPRD
