A ceremony to provide financial assistance to pregnant women and children under 2 in the villages of Kyonzauk and Khaye Kannar was held in conjunction with donation of food supplies to flood victims in the congregation hall of a monastery in Kyargalay village in Pha-an township, Kayin state this morning.
At the event, Kayin state chief minister Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint and state ministers handed over K 45000 each to 53 pregnant women and 70 children under 2. The financial assistance came from Social Welfare Department. Then, the chief minister and party met with flood victims from 684 households and provided them with rice, cooking oil and canned fishes at a monastery in Thanhle village.
The chief minister and party also furnished staff from education and health departments with hygiene kits each containing six kinds of items and food supplies.—Nay Myo Lwin (IPRD)
