Construction of Bailey bridge on Mahlwetaung road that connects Mon State with Taninthayi Region completed at 3:30 pm yesterday. Therefore, as vehicle weighing less than 24 tons have permission to cross the bridge; local people are convenient for transportation, according to an official from Highway Special Team-23.
Due to the landfall of Mahlwetaung, a section of Yangon-Mawlamyine-Ye-Dawei-Myeik Union Road that connects Mon State with Taninthayi Region was suspended on 10 August. Therefore, officials from Highway Special Team-23 and Bridge Construction Team-4 removed the rubble and built a bailey bridge. Now, the bridge construction has completed yesterday, vehicles weighing less than 24 tons have been permitted to cross the bridge.
The newly-constructed Bailey bridge which is 120 ft in length and 15 ft in width will permit vehicles weighing less than 24 tons and a new bridge will be constructed soon, he added.
