The handing-over ceremony of water supply facilities implemented by the Township Rural Development Department during 2018-2019 fiscal year was held at the meeting hall of the collective offices in the town of Pathein, Ayeyarwady region this morning.
First, Dr. Soe Win, MP of the region Hluttaw in his speech said that Rural Development Department has been implementing drinking water supply projects such as deep wells, shallow wells, ponds, brick water tanks and water purification machines to provide all rural people with access to clean drinking water by 2030 in accordance with UN’s sustainable development goals. He also urged village administrators and village people to participate in the maintenance of water supply facilities for long-term use.
Then, U Nay Htet Shein, head of the Region RDD explained the aim of the handing-over of water supply facilities. A total of 19 water supply facilities – ten deep wells, a pond, other eight water supply facilities- were handed over to village water committees at the event. K 132.834 million was spent on the implementation of 19 water supply projects, said U Htay Naing, head of the township RDD.
These water supply projects have brought great benefits to a total of 10483 people from 2536 family units in 19 villages in the township.—Maung Maung Myint (IPRD)
